Gary L. Grossman, Founder (retired)

Professional Background

Gary started his business career in 1974 as a small volume builder.

In 1977, Mr. Grossman entered the real estate brokerage business with a partner as a Century 21 franchisee. During the eleven-year period, ending in 1988, this real estate business blossomed into a six office, 160 plus salesperson organization. In these years, Mr. Grossman was very actively involved in the residential development business having developed approximately 9,000 lots and having built over 7000 homes. Mr. Grossman built and his family continues to operate approximately 400 residential rentals.

In 1988, Mr. Grossman purchased a minority stock interest in Forest Home Systems, Inc. and was elected to the Board of Directors.

In September of 1990, Mr. Grossman assumed the Office of President and Chief Operating Officer of Forest Home Systems, Inc. Mr. Grossman successfully repositioned Forest Homes from a vertically integrated development/construction product retailer to a network of Authorized Builders.

In April of 1992, Mr. Grossman organized an American/Japanese Joint Venture known as Forest Homes of Japan to establish an Authorized Builder network throughout Japan.

In May of 1994, Lancaster Redevelopment Corporation purchased all manufacturing, engineering,  transportation and distribution assets of Forest Homes Systems Inc., which operated the Forest Homes Brand as a ficticious name registered by LRC from May of 1994 through July of 2010. In July of 2010, Building Solutions Since 1977, LLC began production of complex large scale commercial framing systems at the Selinsgrove, PA production facility. In May of 2012 Building Solutions Since 1977, LLC designed, built and constructed a new wall fabrication line which more than doubled production capacity.

Building Solutions Since 1977, LLC currently exports products or has orders pending or has delivered engineered building systems packages in Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland, Korea, Israel and Russia.

In February 2000, Mr. Grossman launched American Pride Builders Inc. to provide turnkey trade ready framing services to the general contracting and construction management sectors of the industry.

Mr. Grossman retired from the building business January 1st, 2023.

Service to the Industry

Mr. Grossman was very actively involved in the National Association of Home Builders Building Systems Council, having served 9 years as the Building System’s Council Board of Trustee’s, 3 terms as President of the Panelized Housing Council, 1997 Vice Chairman and was the 1998, 2004 and 2008 Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Mr. Grossman has nine terms on the Executive Committee at the National Association of Home Builders.

Mr. Grossman was 1998 Vice Chairman and the 1999 Chairman of the International Committee at the National Association of Home Builders.

Mr. Grossman was the 1999 recipient of the S.A. Walters Award. Mr. Grossman was the 15th recipient of this prestigious National Association of Home Builders/Building System Council Award.

Mr. Grossman has served on the National Association of Home Builders Manufacturing Housing Task Force, the American Cities Task Force, National Association of Home Builders Budget Committee and the Building Systems Council Board of Trustees.

In January 2003, Mr. Grossman was appointed to a five year term as a Director as the National Association of Home Builders Research Center.

In January 2008, Mr. Grossman was appointed to a new 4 year term as Director of the Board of Directors, and as a member of the Executive Committee at the National Association of Home Builders Research Center. Mr. Grossman served as the Secretary / Treasurer in 2008 and 2009 and as Treasurer in 2010.

In 2009, Mr. Grossman was appointed to a Presidential Gulf Coast reconstruction task force to advise the Federal Coordinator of Gulf Coast Reconstruction on matters of residential construction

In January 2011, Mr. Grossman was appointed to a 3 year term as Chairman of the Board at the National Association of Home Builders Research Center.
